Beauty for Ashes

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory." -Isaiah 61

Tonight I had the great plesure to sit with a great group of girls who have a passion to help some forgotten women that live amongst us in America. Slave trafficing happens all over the world, but what about the women who seem to willingly give thier bodies over, who reveal themselves out of despiration for money, the ones who are lonely and honestly are the social outcases in our society, what about the stripers, prostitues, and girls in the porn industry?

http://www.iamatreasure.com/ gives all the statistics and information that we kind of talked about tonight. They are a group in Los Angeles that helps women in the sex industry. Kendall, one of the girls that God has really laid this passion on, wants to head up something very similar to this.

This blog doesnt nearly cover the discussions we had tonight, unfortunately I am just too tired and the brain is shutting down. But it was good, it helped me look at these women in a new light and gave me a compassion for them instead of an anger because of what the industry has done to our society. One awesome story in the Bible came to my head when we were talking was from John 8

"The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.  In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”  They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.  When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”  Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.  Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
    “No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” "
